Permits and Zoning/Planning Forms

Most small and all large construction and home improvement projects require a permit. For example, installing a new pool, plumbing for a new bathroom, a new roof, or a fence are all projects requiring permits.

For zoning questions: Review the Hatfield Township Code of Ordinances or contact the Building, Planning and Zoning Department at 215-855-0900.

• Permit applications will be reviewed under the 2018 PA UCC* and all updated references. *See below regarding 2021 PA UCC code adoption
• All commercial contractors are required to be registered yearly with the Township.
• All residential contractors are required to be registered with the State of Pennsylvania Home Improvements Contractor Registration.

IMPORTANT: Pennsylvania adoption of the 2012 ICC Codes

*Effective January 01, 2026, Pennsylvania will enforce the 2021 ICC Codes*

There is a six-month grace period where projects can be submitted to be reviewed under the 2018 UCC Codes. This grace period applies to projects that are under contract prior to January 1, 2026, and are submitted for permit no later than June 1, 2026.  Projects with a contract date after January 1, 2026 and, or permit applications received after June 1, 2026 will be reviewed under the 2021 PA UCC Codes and all updated references.
